Bio

 

Romanian clarinettist, currently living in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Active member of the international performing arts scene as a cultural economist, researcher, artist, founder and organiser of diverse cultural initiatives, artistic programmer, jazz journalist, and editor. Focusing on the development of the performing arts sector, the emphasis stands on the role of the arts in cultural and social development, decision-making in the arts industries, audience development, the performing arts experience, and the quality and value of the arts. Personal contributions to the performing arts sector have come so far through artistic vision and passion for the arts, artistic programming, by conducting research on diverse matters surrounding the performing arts sector, and publicly speaking in regard to cultural and artistic matters.

Jazz journalist at “Jazz Compas” - the first Romanian Jazz & Improvised Music Magazine, co-organiser and artist at Blue Clarinet, and initiator of “Benefits of Music on Child Development” workshops.

Education

Started studying music at the age of six at the Arts High School in her hometown, and continued studying clarinet performance at the Music Conservatory of Brasov, followed by a jazz specialisation at Sedajazz Academy of Valencia, Spain. 

Raluca studied with conductor and first Clarinettist of the Brasov Philharmonic, Iulian Rusu; saxophonist, conductor, and composer Jesus Santrandreu; Perico Sambeat, Javier Vercer, Francisco Blanco, Josvi Muñoz, Anthony Wonsey, Ralph Peterson Jr., Darryl Hall, Toni Belenguer, Alex Simu, and others.

Won several national contests such as “The National Music Contest of Romania” in 2002, “MarÅ£ian Negrea” Contest participating and winning for several years, etc.

Member of classical, symphonic, and jazz orchestras; chamber music formations, jazz groups, and solo performer.
